Developing Text Sets: Helping Readers Make Connections with Text

Day 1, Session 2 - July 25, 2:30-3:30pm

Developing a text set for our classroom may provide readers the ability to see themselves represented in the classroom. Reading and displaying books to serve as mirrors and windows may serve as a means for students to make connections and obtain deeper understanding. This presentation will focus on developing text sets to represent our students and ways in which readers can embrace their personal experiences, discuss how we can use these in our classrooms and discover ways to learn from our current community.
