Enhance, Don't Water Down: Adolescent Literacy Priorities for Academically Diverse Learners

Day 1, Session 2 - July 25, 2:30-3:30pm

This session with Dr. Michael Faggella-Luby will provide instructional solutions for secondary educators consistent with the Science of Reading research. Participants will learn about theoretical, empirical and practical ways to improve outcomes in content area courses starting tomorrow! 

 A Framework for Adolescent Literacy: Cognitive Strategy Instruction in Middle Schools 

Day 2, Session 2 - July 26, 2:30-3:30pm

This session with Dr. Michael Faggella-Luby will target strategy instruction as the most significant lever for improving outcomes for secondary students. Cognitive strategies focused on supporting self-regulated student acquisition, storage and expression of knowledge will be provided. The session will conclude with a building-wide model for embedding strategy instruction through the curriculum to improve outcomes for all learners.
