Darnisha Carreathers

Dr. Darnisha Carreathers currently serves as the Executive Director of K-12 Literacy in Fort Worth ISD. She earned a Bachelor of Science (2002) and a Masters of Education (2004) degrees from Texas A & M University-Texarkana, and a Doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership from Abilene Christian University in 2020.

Her educational experience includes teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, academic dean, and principal in East Texas and Northeast Texas School Districts. Dr. Carreathers is a member of the International Literacy Association (ILA), Texas Association for Literacy Educators (TALE), Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA), the Fort Worth Alliance of Black School Educators.

Dr. Carreathers is an avid reader and believes that literacy is a fundamental right for all students. She enjoys spending time with her two granddaughters, Kennedi and Aria.
